Next ship date will be Wednesday, 5/12. Thank you for your patience!
1.  I’ve never been to a class before. What is DanceBody?
Answer: DanceBody is dance-inspired fitness that combines cardio and toning exercises set to motivating music.
2.  Do you offer beginner classes?
Answer: YES! For your first class, we recommend Follow Along or Dance Express (for more dance cardio), and Sculpt or Sculpt Express (for more toning/less cardio). All of our classes are designed for you to experience a dance-inspired workout with no prior dance experience, and most of our clients are self-proclaimed non-dancers.
  1. How do I learn the dances?
Answer:  The best way to really learn our dances is by booking a Private Session, or simply come to class consistently. It takes about 3 classes to really get the choreography in your body!
You will see our choreographed dances in both Signature and Full Out classes. Our dances change on a quarterly basis, to keep your brain and body engaged.
  1. What is the difference between Follow Along, Signature and Full Out classes?
Answer: On a fitness level, these classes are very similar. Both include high- and low-impact dance cardio, followed by 10-15 minutes of toning.
The main difference is that Follow Along features more repetition of movements, which means zero brain strain. You get the benefits of dance cardio without having to think about the steps — think Brain Off, Body On.”
Our Signature class includes our choreographed dances that change on a quarterly cycle. It requires a bit more focus and coordination.
Our Full Out class is an advanced class, with our Signature dances taken to the next level. More footwork, more challenging choreography (think jumps and turns), and more cardio!
  1. What is the difference between Follow Along and Dance Express classes?
Answer: Dance Express is a 45-minute class that combines Follow Along-style dance cardio and toning intervals. Follow Along is a 1-hour class, and includes about 10-15 minutes of toning on our Hex Mat.
1.  What should I wear?
Answer: Supportive, well-fitting athletic sneakers and workout attire. Our workout is highly athletic, so the type of shoe you wear to class is important.
2.  What do I need to bring to class?
Answer: Simply a positive, #KeepMoving attitude! We do recommend bringing a towel and water to UWS classes.
3.  Can I take class and see if I like it and then pay after?
Answer: No. To take a class with us, you must pay for it in advance.
4.  How early should I come to class?
Answer: If it’s your first class, please plan on coming 10 minutes prior to class to check-in and get settled.
  1. Do you have showers?
Answer: Yes! We have two showers at TriBeCa, with vanity areas as well as a private dressing room. At NoMad, we have two private changing rooms with everything you need to freshen up after class, except the water!
1.  Is the first class free?
Answer: We do not offer free trial classes. But, with our First Class Special, you get 2 classes for $35, to use on any class you’d like within 30 days.
  1. What is your cancellation policy?
Answer: You must cancel your class 12 hours before class time to avoid losing your class credit.
  1. Do you have a late-arrival policy?
Answer: You are allowed to enter class up to 10 minutes past the start time. If you arrive 10 minutes or later after the start of class, your spot may be given to a waitlist or walk-in client. Running a bit late? Email us at or call the studio.
  1. I didn't receive a confirmation email for my class sign up. Am I enrolled in class?
Answer: You may have disabled our confirmation emails during account set up. We’re more than happy to double check for you!
4.   Can I just show up for class without signing up?
Answer:  Yes you can.! We do allow walk-ins, but recommend that everyone sign up online in advance to ensure a spot in class. If you plan to take class during peak times (evenings and weekends), please sign up in advance as those times do fill up quickly.
5.  How far in advance can I sign up?
Answer: Signups open for every month on the 25th of the month prior.
  1. What if I’m on a waitlist?  How do I know if I’ve been removed from the waitlist and added to class?
Answer: You’ll receive an automated email from MINDBODY if you’re added to a class off the waitlist, but you can always call or email us to check your status. The DanceBody app will also show you where you are on the list. If you make it in to a class and cannot attend, you are still responsible for cancelling. Our standard 12-hour cancellation policy will apply.
  1. I signed up through ClassPass but I went to the wrong location for class. What now?
Answer: So sorry for the mixup! ClassPass only allows us to list two locations on its site, our main studios in TriBeCa at 23 Leonard Street, and NoMad at 1158 Broadway. UWS classes are always held at 131 W 72nd St between Columbus and Amsterdam, even though the ClassPass Google Map may show you our 1158 Broadway location.
  1.  I see that you have other locations around Manhattan. Can I use my class or package anywhere?
Answer: NYC classes and packages are valid for all of our NYC locations – NoMad, TriBeCa, and UWS. However, they cannot be used for other areas (Miami, Hamptons, Greenwich) or for UES Small Group Training. We offer separate class packages and pricing for these locations.

  1. Can I share my package with someone else?
Answer: No. Packages cannot be transferred or shared between clients. But, you do have the option to purchase a class for someone else using your account.

ONLINE Workouts FAQs
  1. I’m not a dancer. Can I do these workouts?
YES! We believe that you don’t have to be a dancer to look like one. We have several class types available on DanceBody at Home, including Follow Along cardio, Sculpt, and Breakdown videos that teach you the dances step-by-step; a great place to start for beginners.
Read through our class descriptions for full details, or email for guidance.

  1. How often should I do the workout?
Generally, we recommend trying to hit a 60-minute class, three to five times a week.
This could be one sculpt and two cardio focused classes, or two sculpt and three cardio focused classes — any combination you like. The most important aspect of this workout is consistency.
  1. What kind of equipment will I need?
For our Sculpt classes we use a Hex Mat, Dance Bands, “D” weights, and a resistance band.  Here’s what you’ll need for the best DanceBody@Home experience:
Dance Bands
Hex Mat
“D” Weights (2-3lbs)
Resistance Bands
  1. What kind of footwear should I have for the classes?
We recommended wearing supportive sneakers for both the cardio and sculpt classes.
You will want a shoe that is snug around your foot for all the lateral movement in dance cardio and that also has enough shock absorption for the high impact. If you start to have any aches and pains in your feet, ankles, or knees — it could be that you are ready for a new pair of sneaks!
We recommend rotating between a couple pairs and totally replacing them every 3-6 months, depending on how frequently you are wearing them. Trust us, great shoes are essential to enjoying this workout!
  1. Does my room need to be hot for the workout?
We’re about real sweat, not artificial sweat. This being the case, we do not recommend cranking the heat way up in your room before working out. We do recommend that your room is a comfortable temperature (70-75 degrees).
Real sweat comes from the inside out, not the outside in. When you contract your muscles this will produce sweat. Sweating simply because a room is overly warm, you may as well work out in a steam room! This “artificial” sweat makes you feel like you’re working hard, but intense heat causes your muscles to work less. We want you to know that you are reshaping your body, not simply losing water weight.
  1. If I am pregnant, can I do the DanceBody@Home workouts?
We recommend checking with your doctor before starting any new workout while pregnant. The general rule is that if you have been regularly working out 3 months before becoming pregnant, typically you will be able to continue on with your usual routine.
Above all, advice from your doctor or healthcare professional should be considered to supersede anything on our site. If you have further questions, contact your obstetrician–gynecologist or other healthcare professional.
